We are excited to join the UN Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development as a U.S Nexus Organization. The Decade is set to take place from 2021-2030 and will provide a common framework to ensure that ocean science can fully support countries’ actions to sustainably manage the oceans and, in particular, to achieve the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. In our role as a Nexus Organization, OST will serve as a liaison between the UN Decade initiative, California’s ocean science community, and state government agencies. We are looking forward to participating in this unprecedented effort, connecting with other Nexus organizations, and finding opportunities where California can serve as a champion or example of ocean sustainability actions that would be beneficial to the UN Decade’s ongoing efforts.
