Margaret Spring serves the board as the Ocean and Coastal Interests Group representative. Currently the Chief Conservation and Science Officer at the Monterey Bay Aquarium, Ms. Spring oversees conservation and research programs, including science-based policy work on climate, plastic pollution, and the preservation of ocean ecosystems. As the former Principal Deputy Under Secretary for Oceans and Atmosphere at NOAA, she brings deep experience with environmental issues affecting the West Coast, including managing water resources, conserving marine ecosystems, and adapting to a changing climate. Ms. Spring joined the board in 2014. Her other board memberships include the Ocean Studies Board of the National Research Council.
