he/him/his

Erick joins Ocean Science Trust from San Francisco State University Estuary and Ocean Science Center for a fall 2022 internship through their Interdisciplinary Marine and Estuarine Sciences (IMES) Program.

Erick’s research focuses on characterizing the biological diversity of species in the waters of restored wetlands and determining which species serve as biological indicators of beneficial wetlands in the San Francisco Estuary. A major objective of Erick’s research is to complement traditional monitoring techniques with metabarcoding techniques to further understand how microbial organisms affect ecosystem health with an overarching goal to improve marine management strategies.

Prior to joining the OST team in 2022, Erick was a Project Manager Assistant at Eurofins TestAmerica.

Erick received his B.S. in Oceanography from Humboldt State University with a minor in Environmental Ethics and Philosophy, and is currently a M.S. candidate in the IMES program at San Francisco State University.
