A self-identified pattern nerd, Emma’s lifelong curiosity and interest in nature & society’s fundamental connections has been a driving force in every aspect of her life. Emma’s love of patterns and mechanics encompasses analytical approaches to cooking, crochet, web development and e-commerce marketing, and her cat’s nightly running.
Growing up on hiking trails with her father, field lectures on botany and geology (including impromptu ‘quizzes’) were a normal part of any excursion. The fledgeling UC Merced ecology program provided a formal continuation of Emma’s early education. After graduating with her Bachelor’s of Science, Emma switched fields to freelance as a photographer and study skills tutor before joining a small manufacturing company as an office administrator. In unexpected ways, Emma’s degree continues to inform her work in office administration and her enthusiasm for ecology has continued unabated.
Joining an environmental nonprofit has brought Emma back to her ecological roots,so to speak. Using recently acquired business skills to support a lifelong interest has provided a sense of satisfaction as she links her skill set and education to her vocation.
