Tanner Waters specializes in biodiversity monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of coastal restoration and conservation efforts. He has 10+ years of lab and fieldwork experience and is passionate about making science-based and community-led science policy. He will be joining OST as a science-policy fellow working on the California Ocean and Coastal Report Card and the restoration working group.
Prior to joining OST, Tanner was a Knauss marine policy fellow. He worked on the House Natural Resources Committee, Subcommittee on Water, Wildlife, and Fisheries as a science advisor.
Tanner received his Ph.D. in Environment and Sustainability from the University of California- Los Angeles. He also received his B.S. in Environmental Science and B.A. in Earth and Ocean Science from Duke University.
Tanner is based out of the Los Angeles region.
